Zoe Saldana: 'People of Color' Don't Exist
In a piece at Clutch magazine, Evette Dionne takes Zoe Saldana to task for saying, "There's no such thing as people of color," and suggests that she enroll in a Critical Race Theory class.
Actress Zoe Saldana has been inserting the proverbial foot in her mouth in recent weeks. The "Colombiana" starlet has been media blitzing for the upcoming "Star Trek Into Darkness" film and leaving a trail of disrespect in her wake. A fellow Clutch editor, Yesha Callahan, thinks Saldana needs a dictionary and a clue. I concur and also think she needs to enroll in an Introduction to Critical Race Theory course ASAP.
During an interview with BET, Saldana candidly discussed how she views race, alleging "there's no such as people of color."

Black Pastors to Star in Reality TV Show
Black America Web's Michael H. Cottman asks in an insightful piece about an impending Oxygen Network reality show about black pastors: Should they sanctify the foolishness of reality TV?
Would you really want your pastor â and your congregation â to star in a reality television show?
I'm not knocking the six black pastors who have signed on for a new reality show on Oxygen called "Pastors of L.A." â a detailed look at the lives of men of God in Los Angeles.
But I do question why the pastors chose to participate in the show. Are they truly hoping to use the program to minister to those who need spiritual guidance? Or are they simply using the high-profile media platform to rake in more cash and bask in the spotlight of a national television audience?
Obama Alleged Scandals: The Public Should Yawn
Earl Ofari Hutchinson argues in a piece at EURweb that the four alleged scandals faced by the administration don't pass the smell test for a public flogging of the president because there is no clear cut evidence that he had any knowledge or hand in the missteps.
*The mostly media driven scandal talk involving President Obama has so far stirred barely a yawn among the public. There are good reasons.
The four alleged scandals, Benghazi, the IRS, the AP leaks, and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius supposed shakedown of corporations to help implement the health care act don't come close to passing the smell test for a public fogging of the president. There is absolutely no clear cut evidence or testimony that Obama had any knowledge of or hand in the missteps. And the comparison to Watergate, or Nixon, is a joke and an insult.

IRS Apology for Tea Party Racists?
(The Root) -- The confederacy of dunces that makes up the Republican Party leadership and Fox News want you to believe that liberal operatives at the IRS abused power -- for political purposes -- by scrutinizing conservative Tea Party affiliates applying for tax-exempt 501(c)(4) status. What has been missed in the mainstream debate on the topic is the fact that the Tea Party should have been scrutinized. Race, money, political power and extremist ideology are the smoking guns -- and it's time to follow the money trail.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. Highest Paid Athlete
Boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. was named the highest paid U.S. athlete for the second year in a row, and Nike does not endorse him, nor does he own a clothing line, ABC reports.
Mayweather, 36, was paid million in the last year, none of it coming from endorsements, according to Sports Illustrated.
"I earn a lot of money but the money is not what motivates me," Mayweather said in a statement. "I work very hard at my craft and appreciate all the fans that support my efforts by buying my fights. Being at the top of my sport for over a decade validates my willingness to train hard, fight hard and give everyone something to enjoy. It is a honor to be the highest paid athlete again this year but it is just a part of my love for the sport of boxing and what it has done for myself and my family."
Michelle Obama Has Retired Her Bangs
First lady Michelle Obama just keeps us guessing with her indelible fashion sense. New York magazine duly notes that on Friday she sported a new look for her commencement address at Bowie State University in College Park, Md.: side-swept bangs.
Gone are the blunt midlife crisis bangs she debuted in February, leaving behind only a poofy, angled trace of the controversial fringe action. Michelle weathered the most difficult part of the bangs aftermath well â though she admitted they were "irritating," she never dealt with the clips and headbands mess many parents use on their kids to get them through the unflattering growing-out period.
